Foundation Academies is a Trenton, NJ-based No Excuses charter management organization. Among the highest performing charter organizations in the state and a 2012 New Jersey Department of Education Reward School, our mission is to ensure that all of our students secure the academic knowledge and skills to prepare them for the nation's finest colleges and to instill in them the core values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
We opened in August 2007 and currently educate over 500 students in grades 3 through 12 across two campuses. Given our Trenton roots and with parent demand for our program far exceeding available seats, we plan to continue to ensure academic excellence and we are expanding to serve over 1,000 students in grades K through 12 across multiple campuses throughout the City of Trenton.
Because we:
Fundamentally change the lives of our students;
Are a team of like-minded professionals who believe the achievement gap is an injustice;
Compensate our top teachers better than their regional peers;
Offer career paths for our teachers, including a myriad of teacher-leadership opportunities and participation in nationally-recognized charter school leadership programs;
Invest close to three hours daily in teacher preparation time;
Dismiss students at noon one day each week to use for teacher collaborative planning time;
Observe all of our teachers twice weekly and provide constant feedback and coaching;
Ensure that every professional meets with his/her direct supervisor, one-on-one, every week;
Have an independently-assessed top-ranked professional culture compared with peer schools;
Provide every teacher with a laptop and smartphone and we have SMART boards in every classroom;
Ensure that all of our students study music and we are the first charter organization in the country partnered with an elite music school, The Oberlin Conservatory of Music;
Are founded and built by Trenton educators and parents.
We seek a highly committed and talented High School Science Teacher to join our High School team who:
embraces our mission and embodies our core values;
possesses an unrelenting commitment to ensure measurable outcomes in student learning;
ensures a highly structured school environment by sweating the small stuff;
welcomes the opportunity to be constantly challenged to grow, learn and improve based on copious and candid feedback;
is a team player;
owns a solid track record of accomplishments in the classroom;
possesses or is eligible for NJ certification in relevant content area;
has a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0.
candidates with two or more years of teaching experience preferred.
We will ask for Semifinalist candidates to put us in contact with 5 professional references, produce unofficial transcripts, and upload copies of relevant certification(s).
