The afterschool Instructor develops, plans, and implements age-appropriate curriculum in assigned area of expertise.
The Part Time Instructor position is 6-12 hours a week, which begins September 2014 and ends June 2015.
Provide assistance in homework, tutoring, and test preparation
Teach students skills in an area of expertise, such as sports, arts, literacy, computers, etc.
Assist in the supervision of all enrolled students in the after school program
Maintain student safety and provide a supportive learning environment
Establish and maintain communication with staff members and families regarding all aspects of student involvement in the program
Actively participate in staff development and training
Help students improve social skills and assist in enrichment activities
High School Diploma/ GED Required
Must have effective classroom management skills, and a strong commitment to providing high-quality programming for youth. Two years of previous teaching experience highly desirable. Qualified candidates must consent to and meet the pre-employment screening requirements for the NJ Department of Human Services (Child Abuse Record Information (CARI) Background Check, Criminal History Background Check, and Drug Screening).
