Manager Rehab Services

OverviewManages daily operations and coordinates activities for all disciplines within Rehabilitation Services at the Regional Medical Center campus while maintaining high standards of Patient care as set forth by Capital Health (CH).
Oversees quality and safety for areas of responsibility within the CH framework.
Assumes responsibility for insuring departmental compliance with all regulatory and practice act requirements.
Assists director with recruitment, performance evaluations, disciplining and retention, and staffing ensuring adequate staff levels.
Assists with fiscal responsibilities of department budget, monitoring revenues and expenses, and reporting.
Performs other duties as requiredResponsibilities Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates services in area of responsibility, in collaboration with clinical experts and supervisors, and the Director of Rehabilitation Services.
Oversees the functions of the Rehab Department in the absence of the Director.
Ensures competence of staff as evidenced by compliance with CH guidelines and timeframes.
Collects, reviews and exercises discretion and judgement when analyzing data regarding area(s) of responsibility within established guidelines and as needed.
Prepares appropriate reports, both for internal use and for formal submission to committees or outside entities as appropriate.
Assists director in the development of a department-specific, strategic and operational plan.
Assists with the establishment and implementation of goals and objectives and formulates and/or revises policies and procedures.
Manages the evaluation and development of therapy programs including equipment assessment and staffing ratios.
Assists with the maintenance and cost effectiveness of the department supplies and inventory.
Works with the director to clarify needs of customers.
Provides quick, thorough and appropriate response to customer requests/complaints.
Improves performance through development of appropriate outcomes based PI monitors, consistently measured, reassessed and reported via the appropriate CH mechanism at minimally annually.
Engages staff in active ongoing participation in performance improvement and other quality enhancing activities.
Adheres to departmental regulatory standards and maintains departmental accreditations.
These include, but are not limited to NJ State licensure rules and regulations for professional/paraprofessional therapy staff.
Maintains constant readiness for JCAHO/DHSS/CMS as measured by self-assessment against standards.
Ensures compliance with documentation and billing of services and maintaining orderly patient records.
Assists director in developing annual budgets within CH guidelines and timeframe.
Analyzes and monitors budget for appropriate utilization of resources.
Demonstrates proactive vigilance in identifying opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost reduction.
Performs interviews for new hires and assists with the selection process.
Manages and clarifies performance expectations with staff and provides ongoing feedback, both verbal and written.
Provides guidance and counseling to staff in accordance with CH performance management processes.
Participates in internal and external projects, committees and activities.
May be required to perform patient care duties as their licensed discipline according to evidence based guidelines, as needed.
Requirements Masters degree and licensed as Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Pathologist discipline.
Five years clinical experience in an acute care therapy environment.
Three years operational supervision experience in a hospital setting.
AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider Strong skills in problem solving, prioritization, decision making and time management; Understanding of therapy team dynamics and ability to positively impact the work environment Extensive familiarity with use of internet as a clinical and administrative resource.
